Sustainability

Wool is by nature a circular fibre. Its eco-friendly, sustainable, and long lasting. Wool products are biodegradable when the fibre’s nutrients are returned to the soil for use again. This is more than just recycling; it is true circularity. Additionally, the wool fibre doesn’t shed microplastics, in contrast to synthetic fibres which is a significant issue for the textile industry.

After using and reusing woolen garments for a long time, they can be recycled to recreate new and luxurious fabrics, thus reducing the use of virgin materials and reducing the stress on the environment. Recycling wool also reduces textile waste and limits chemical use for dyeing. Because the wool used to produce recycled wool fabric is already dyed, specific colors of fibers can be combined into a recycled textile to create the desired hue, rather than bleaching and re-dyeing the fibers.

Usage of recycled wool yarn as our core raw material

We use completely recycled wool yarn as our core raw material. All our fabrics are manufactured using recycled wool yarn, turning waste into fabrics that find use right from outerwear, home textiles and protective clothing among several others. We are certified under RCS. The Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) sets the criteria for third-party certification of recycled materials and chain of custody.

We are also RWS certified. The Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) requires all sites, from wool farmers to the seller in the final business-to-business transaction, to be certified. RWS farmers and ranchers must meet animal welfare, land management, and social requirements. KocharTex operates a management system that ensures that all applicable criteria of the Standard are fully implemented. We have established, implemented, and maintain documented procedures and work instructions covering all applicable criteria of the RWS.

At KocharTex we walk the talk about sustainable processes. Several initiatives have been taken in our sustainability journey so far and we are committed to this cause. We have also switched to eco-friendly raw materials, dyes & chemicals and are compliant with global standards like REACH.

Water Conservation

We have implemented a 3-pronged strategy of Reduce, Recycle and Reuse for water conservation.

State of the art machinery with reduced liquor ratio at our dyeing plant decreases the water required per kg of fabric. This has resulted in a substantial reduction in water consumption and allied process chemicals.

Instead of discharging the process effluent, it is treated in the ETP (Effluent treatment plant) through a series of biological treatments followed by physiochemical treatment to ensure parameters like COD, BOD and TDS, are well under desired levels and thus make the effluent usable for our processes.

Adoption of Renewable sources of energy

Our aim is to reach 40% this year: We have Installed over 500 KW of Rooftop Solar PV which is able to meet 25% of our energy demand. Our aim is to reach 40% this year.

Installation of Solar PV:Zero waste, Zero Pollution: Replaced Petcoke with Biomass Pellets as fuel for our Boiler and Thermopack. It’s a perfect example of waste to energy. The fuel doesn’t release any harmful gases in the environment, and hence we exemplify zero waste, zero pollution.
